Vedas Trainers Keep Golfers Up To Par

Vedas (formerly Keyfit) Personal Training & Post-Rehab Studio is now helping golfers stay above par with a new golf-conditioning program, which is designed to help improve a player’s game through consistent fitness and nutritional control. Tammy Polenz, Keyfit owner and ACE Certified Personal Trainer, is certified to provide clients with golf conditioning training. According to Polenz, “Playing golf takes skill practice and patience, but as in any sport, fitness should never be overlooked. Professional golfers often complete specific golf conditioning workouts on a regular basis. Anyone who loves the sport and wants to improve his or her game can benefit from a golf-conditioning program.”

Polenz’ program includes swing mechanics; strength training for maximizing distance and control; postural stability training for improved golf swing plane; coordination training for swing-through and skill execution; and nutritional guidance for an overall healthier body. While golfers can develop their own program, Polenz recommends that golfers work with her to identify things such as imbalances and joint instability that will affect not only their game but their workout as well. “At Vedas, we can help golfers decide where their strengths and weaknesses lie, and develop a program that fits them, and in the long run, improve their golf game,” Polenz said.

“It is important to remember that the more fit you are, the more consistent you golf swing will be,” Polenz continued. “Flexibility, cardiovascular fitness, strength, and a well-balanced nutritional program are keys to a powerful and consistent swing, golf conditioning can help prevent and manage injuries, discomfort and poor form.”

Golf conditioning routines usually involve a great deal of core strengthening exercises. Vedas' Golf Conditioning program works all major muscle groups, including the hamstrings, quadriceps, upper and lower back, chest, shoulder, and oblique muscles, which helps golfers acquire the proper form for the perfect golf swing.

By improving specific flexibility, in areas like the upper body, hamstrings, and shoulders, Polenz’s helps players develop a more ideal golf swing and reduce wear on the active joints and muscles involved. “By improving muscle strength, we are able to increase swing stability and club head speed. Muscular endurance and cardiovascular fitness are the keys for allowing a player to repeat the proper swing for a longer amount of time before becoming fatigued,” Polenz said. “Finally, by improving nutrition, a player will acquire a lean body and will have the energy required to practice longer and play with more intensity and focus.”
